Retrieve policy period expiration date.

| Field | Value |
| --- | --- |
| **Operation ID** | OP-002 |
| **Trigger** | A caller supplies a policy number and effective date. |
| **Inputs** | `IDataPortalInfo`, policy number, policy period effective date |
| **Outputs** | Policy period expiration date |
| **Primary components** | `PolicyInformation` |
| **Entry point** | `Business\SAIF.Business.Policy\PolicyInformation.vb` |

## Steps

1. Execute [SQL-011](../sql/SQL-011-saif-business-policy.md) against [POLICY_PERIOD](../database-tables.md#policy_period) and [POLICY_PERIOD_NON_WCIS](../database-tables.md#policy_period_non_wcis).
2. Bind the policy number and effective date for both `UNION` branches.
3. Return the expiration date found in either source-system table.
4. Apply related business rules: [BR-POL-002](../business-rules.md#br-pol-002-expiration-and-anniversary-lookups-search-both-wcis-and-non-wcis-period-tables)

## Process flow

## Failure and edge-case behavior

- Business rules are cross-referenced from the catalog page and the SQL or procedure logic cited in these steps.
- Database and procedure failures surface according to the underlying implementation path.
