# clsTradingAs

`clsTradingAs` records a business name a policyholder trades under, together with the registration, effective, and cancellation dates that bound its use and the identifiers — FEID, UITR, affiliate SSN — that tie it to a legal entity. Because names are dated, a consumer can tell a current trading name from a prior legal name rather than treating all of them as equivalent.

## Purpose

- Records one registered trading name for a policy, with the dates that bound it ([Retrieve supporting policy aggregates](../../operations/retrieve-supporting-policy-aggregates.md)).
- Distinguishes a prior legal name from a current trading name.
- Resolves the coded trading-as type to a readable description.
