# SAIF.Services.Imaging.Import business rules

This page captures the serialization rules enforced by `clsImageImport.ToString()`.

## BR-001: Blank numeric fields when unset

| Field | Value |

| **Statement** | `DocumentDateDays`, `ImageSeqNum`, `NPages`, `PolicyNum`, `AffiliationId`, and `LegalCaseId` serialize as blank values when the property value is not greater than zero. |
| **Trigger** | A caller invokes `clsImageImport.ToString()`. |
| **Enforcement** | `ToString()` checks each field with `If <field> > 0 Then ... Else ...` before appending the output line. |
| **Outcome** | The serialized payload preserves the key name while suppressing zero-valued numeric content. |

## BR-002: Format optional dates as MM-dd-yyyy or blank

| Field | Value |
| --- | --- |
| **Statement** | `DocumentDate`, `ReceivedDate`, and `TaskDate` serialize as `MM-dd-yyyy` when the property value is between `Date.MinValue` and `Date.MaxValue`; otherwise they serialize as blank values. |
| **Trigger** | A caller invokes `clsImageImport.ToString()`. |
| **Enforcement** | `ToString()` evaluates each date with `If <field> > Date.MinValue And <field> < Date.MaxValue Then ... Else ...` before appending the output line. |
| **Outcome** | The payload emits formatted dates only for populated values and avoids default .NET date sentinels. |
