PadArgs

This value-formatting helper describes how a binder should pad text when moving data between an object and a control. clsObjectBinderBase consumes it from ControlPadding or ObjectPadding to decide the total width, pad character, direction, and which side of the binding the padding applies to.

Purpose

  • Describe fixed-width padding rules without hard-coding them into individual binders.
  • Let callers apply different padding rules to control display and object persistence paths.
  • Keep padding configuration reusable across classic and modern editor bindings.

Context

  • Namespace: SAIF.Presentation.Web.Binding
  • Assembly/package: SAIF.Presentation.Web.Binding.Infragistics103 (embedded/bundled as source, not independently packaged)

Public members

Member Signature Purpose
PadDirection Public Property PadDirection() As PadDirection Chooses whether padding is added on the left or right side of the value.
PadLength Public Property PadLength() As Integer Sets the final width the padded value should reach.
PadCharacter Public Property PadCharacter() As Char Sets the fill character inserted during padding.
Target Public Property Target() As PadTarget Declares whether the rule is meant for the object side or the control side of the binding.
New Public Sub New() Creates an empty padding configuration using the class defaults.
New Public Sub New(ByVal inPadLength As Integer, ByVal inPadChar As Char, ByVal inDirection As PadDirection, Optional ByVal inPadTarget As PadTarget = PadTarget.Control) Creates a complete padding rule in one call.

Behavioral notes

  • clsObjectBinderBase.GetObjectValueAsString applies control-side padding when UsePadding is enabled and ControlPadding is present.
  • clsObjectBinderBase.SetObjectValueAsString consults object-side padding settings before writing values back to a source object.

Constraints and usage notes

  • This type only describes padding; the binder base class decides when the rule is applied.
  • PadTarget lets one binder carry separate control-side and object-side rules instead of forcing one shared format.
