# clsCustomValidator

`clsCustomValidator` is a validation-only "binder" registered through `clsObjectBindManager.AddCustomValidator`. It never moves data — `Init` forces its bind type to `ValidateOnly` — and instead runs one of three application-supplied checks (a property-level delegate, a method-level delegate, or a whole-object `IsValid` check) whose results feed into the same error-aggregation pipeline as ordinary property bindings.

## Purpose
- Let applications extend validation with custom logic without subclassing a control-specific binder ([BR-BIND-051](../../business-rules.md#br-bind-051-property-validator-receives-bind-source-and-error-list), see [Run a custom validator](../../operations/run-a-custom-validator.md)).
- Force `BindType = ValidateOnly` on `Init` so custom validators never move data ([BR-BIND-009](../../business-rules.md#br-bind-009-custom-validator-forced-to-validateonly)).

## Behavioral notes
- In the `Property` branch, the delegate appends messages to `ControlErrors` directly but `PerformValidation` never sets `m_Errors = True`, so those messages do not mark the validator as erroring and may not surface through `clsObjectBindManager.Validate()`.*
- A `Nothing` delegate is a silent no-op ([BR-BIND-054](../../business-rules.md#br-bind-054-missing-delegate-is-silent-no-op)).
