Look up a binder by control

Find the binder registered for a specific control so it can be rebound or inspected directly.

Field Value
Operation ID OP-BIND-010
Trigger Application needs to rebind or inspect a single control
Inputs The control instance
Outputs The matching clsObjectBinderBase, or Nothing
Primary components clsObjectBindManager.Binder, clsObjectBindManager.ObjectToControl(control)
Entry point SAIF.Presentation.Web.Binding.Infragistics111/clsObjectBindManager.vb

Steps

  1. Iterate m_Bindings and compare each binder's FormControlID with the control's UniqueID (exact, case-sensitive comparison). (BR-BIND-060)
  2. Return the first match, or Nothing when none matches.
  3. ObjectToControl(control) calls Binder(control).ObjectToControl() directly, so an unmatched control raises a NullReferenceException.*

Process flow

The following diagram visualizes this operation's control flow.

flowchart TD
    Start([Binder control lookup]) --> S1[Iterate m_Bindings]
    S1 --> D{FormControlID matches control UniqueID?}
    D -->|Yes| S2[Return matching binder]
    D -->|No more bindings| S3[Return Nothing]
    S2 --> End([Caller uses binder])
    S3 --> End

Failure and edge-case behavior

  • Callers of ObjectToControl(control) must ensure a binder is registered for the control first, since a Nothing lookup result is not null-checked before the call.*

Statements marked with ** could not be confirmed; treat as unknown until verified. Statements marked with † were retrieved from dependency library documentation via the Legends CLI RAG service.
