# SAIFCheckBox

A checkbox that can render as a static, read-only image instead of an interactive input, letting pages show a checked/unchecked state without allowing edits [BR-V2-024](../../business-rules.md#br-v2-024-read-only-checkboxes-use-static-images).

## Purpose
- Persists its `ReadOnly` state per control instance in `ViewState` so it survives postback [BR-V2-021](../../business-rules.md#br-v2-021-readonly-persisted-per-control-in-viewstate).
- Renders as its stock base-class checkbox when not read-only, and as a static checked/unchecked image when read-only [BR-V2-024](../../business-rules.md#br-v2-024-read-only-checkboxes-use-static-images).
