# CurrentUserState

Enumeration stored in the `BolContext` cookie that records whether the external user information lookup has been completed for the current context.

## Purpose
- Ensure the external user lookup runs only once per context ([BR-BOLMIDDLEWARE-006](../../business-rules.md#br-bolmiddleware-006-external-user-information-lookup-once)).

## Public members

| `New` | `New` | The lookup has not run yet; the default. |
| `Validated` | `Validated` | The lookup completed and need not be repeated. |

## Behavioral notes
- Default value in `ContextCookie` is `New`.

## Constraints and usage notes
- Persisted in an unsigned cookie.
