# LineItem

LineItem represents a single categorized amount within a `Payment`, and is the element type of `Payment.LineItems` (see ../SAIF.Data.Guidewire.Models.ClaimDataApi/Payment.md), which is nested under `PaymentsData` returned by `ClaimDataApiClient.GetGWClaimFinancials` (see ../SAIF.Data.Guidewire.Clients/ClaimDataApiClient.md).

## Purpose
- Breaks a payment down into individual line-item amounts by category, allowing a single payment to itemize multiple cost categories.
