OctalConverter¶
OctalConverter is a concrete ConverterBase subclass that represents base 8 (octal). It overrides only the Base property and relies entirely on ConverterBase's default digit-conversion and formatting logic.
Purpose¶
- Provide an
IConverterimplementation for octal (base 8) numeric conversion.
Context¶
- Namespace:
SAIF.Framework.BaseN - Assembly/package:
SAIF.Framework.BaseN(also bundled into theSAIF.BOF.FrameworkNuGet package)
Public members¶
| Member | Signature | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
Base |
Public Overrides ReadOnly Property Base() As Integer |
Returns 8. |
Inherited public members¶
Members in this section are inherited from ConverterBase in SAIF.Framework.BaseN. They are available on this type through inheritance.
| Member | Signature | Purpose | Origin |
|---|---|---|---|
ConvertAlphaToNumeric |
Public Overridable Function ConvertAlphaToNumeric(ByVal input As String) As Integer |
Default: returns CInt(input) if numeric, else 0 (BR-004). |
SAIF.Framework.BaseN — ConverterBase |
ConvertNumericToAlpha |
Public Overridable Function ConvertNumericToAlpha(ByVal input As Integer) As String |
Default: returns input.ToString(). |
SAIF.Framework.BaseN — ConverterBase |
FormatBaseN |
Public Overridable Function FormatBaseN(ByVal values As Integer()) As String |
Default: renders a digit array right-to-left as a string. | SAIF.Framework.BaseN — ConverterBase |
Behavioral notes¶
- Because
OctalConverterdoes not overrideConvertAlphaToNumeric, non-numeric input is silently treated as0rather than raising an error (BR-004).
Constraints and usage notes¶
- No bounds checking is performed on digit values for this converter; unlike
HexConverter/ExcelConverter,OctalConverterdoes not throwConverterException.*
Note: Statements marked with * were inferred from code structure, naming conventions, or contextual evidence where direct confirmation was not available in source artifacts. Statements marked with ** could not be confirmed; treat as unknown until verified. Statements marked with † were retrieved from dependency library documentation via the Legends CLI RAG service. They describe inherited behavior from the indicated origin library and should be verified if the dependency version changes.
