Legacy.Fax overview

The WCF project (SAIF.Services.WCF.Host) carries a generated SOAP client proxy for the remote `FaxService`† so that its own hosted FaxService.SendFax operation can hand off outbound fax delivery to that external system, one recipient at a time.

Purpose

  • Deliver an outbound fax on behalf of the locally hosted FaxService.SendFax operation by calling the remote `FaxService`† operation Send once per recipient.

Business context

The called service accepts a fax job — a temporary attachment path plus recipient name and fax number — and returns no acknowledgement body, so this repository delegates the entire outbound fax transmission and has no way to observe success or failure beyond a SOAP fault.

Attribute Value
Business capability Outbound fax transmission for the hosted FaxService.SendFax operation
Owning team of the called service Not determined from source
Criticality to the consumer Not determined from source
Fallback when unavailable None — the calling operation fails; the exception propagates unhandled to the caller of FaxService.SendFax*

Capability summary

Capability Operations Description
Outbound fax delivery Send Submits a FaxInfo (attachment path, recipient name, recipient fax number) to the remote service; the response carries no acknowledgement body

A generated proxy exposes everything the WSDL declares whether or not this repository calls it. This proxy's WSDL declares exactly one operation, Send, and this repository calls it — see Operation map for the full reconciliation.

Generation provenance

Aspect Finding
Generated by svcutil (Service Reference)
Generated from src\WCF\SAIF.Services.WCF.Host\Service References\Legacy.Fax\faxservice.wsdl
Discovery document src\WCF\SAIF.Services.WCF.Host\Service References\Legacy.Fax\faxservice.disco
Generated namespace WCF.Legacy.Fax
Namespace matches the consuming project No — the consuming project is WCF, and the generated namespace is WCF.Legacy.Fax, a sub-namespace of the consuming assembly's own name rather than a namespace naming the remote party
Regeneration risk Refreshing the reference regenerates Reference.cs from the captured WSDL; no hand edits were found inside it, so a refresh carries no known loss*

Non-documented artifacts

  • The generated Reference.cs partial class, its SendAsync Task-based async member, serialization attributes, and the Reference.svcmap / configuration.svcinfo / configuration91.svcinfo / WCF.Legacy.Fax.SendResponse.datasource designer artifacts are svcutil tool output and are not narrated as authored code anywhere in this document set.
